    • Mary E. Dachenbach, 95, of Chariton passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Westridge Nursing & Rehab.

Mary was born to Elmer & Adda (Gookin) Poush on June 9, 1919 in Chariton. She received her education from Chariton High School graduating in 1937. On May 19, 1940, Mary was united in marriage to Lowell Dachenbach. To this union were born three children: Sharon, Lynn and Lee.

Mary was a school teacher in the Country Schools in Lucas County for several years. She enjoyed shaping young minds. Later on in her life, Lowell decided to get a job with Firestone in Des Moines and Mary would leave her job as a teacher to stay on the farm and take care of things along with raising their kids, while Lowell went to work. Mary enjoyed being on the farm. She loved the outdoors and everything nature had to offer. Mary looked forward to every spring when she could spend time in her garden.

Mary was a member of the Knoxville Church of the Nazarene. She taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday school class for many years with her husband, Lowell. The two did many things for the church; whether it was picking walnuts and selling to raise money for the Alabaster Fund or holding their annual Poor Man's Supper for senior citizen's every fall. Mary enjoyed helping people and her church. She was a big asset to her family and her church and she will be dearly missed by both.

Survivors include three children: Sharon Bebee of Des Moines, Lynn Dachenbach (Eileen) of Knoxville, Lee Dachenbach (Pam) of Knoxville, 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Dachenbach in 2002, grandson, Bryan O'Leary in 2011, great granddaughter Kayla Thomas in 2010, brother, Rev. Lysle Ellsworth Poush (Elsie) and a sister Evelyn Caris (Robert).

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Knoxville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Greg McClain officiating. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery near Williamson. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials may be given to Knoxville Church of the Nazarene - Alabaster Fund.
