    • 1851 agricultural schedule of St. Gabriel de Brandon, Berthier County, Quebec, Canada, lists a Louis Terrier. There is also an [illegible] Ilenrs' Terrier two names above on the same list.

    • Lewis Terrier appears in the 1854 City Director of Manchester, New Hampshire: "Terrier Lewis, laborer, h. Washington c. Birch."

    • 1860 Federal Population Schedule for New Hampshire cites Lewis Terrier in Hooksett, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.

    • Louis Terrier (the last name has also been cited as Therien) was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting as a Private on 11 August 1862 at the age of 41, and in Company D, 10th Infantry Regiment New Hampshire 1 September 1862. He mustered out of Company D, 10th Infantry Regiment New Hampshire on 21 June 1865 at Richmond, Virginia. Louis served with distinction in all of the eighteen major battles fought by the 10th NH Volunteers, through to the Fair Oaks battle and the Richmond Virginia occupation which started April 3, 1864.

    • Louis Terrier of Hooksett, New Hampshire became a naturalized American citizen 11 Mar 1866, Police Court, Manchester, Hillsboro County, New Hampshire, Certificate "Year 1866-207"; country of birth or allegiance "Victoria, Great Britain"; witness is Natt Head of Hookset, NH.

    • Lewis Terrior applied for a military pension 27 December 1878, application #264.311, certificate #181.875. He is listed in the Civil War pension records of Hooksett, New Hampshire, a member of NH 10th Regiment, Company D, mustered in 1 September 1862, and out 29 June 1865 (writing in the margin says "mustered out June 21, 1865"). The pension list is dated 28 May 1866 in Hooksett, and lists "Victoria Turrier, wife, 2 children" as next of kin. The pension was $23.60.

    • Aunt Hilda tells the story that Louis Terrier first saw Caroline Millette at a dance in Three Rivers, Quebec, and told his friend that she was the girl he would marry. His friend said that was not possible, for she was already married. Years later, while in Manchester, New Hampshire to work for the mills, he learned that she was now living there and a new widow. He proposed, and the rest is history.

    • Louis Terrier appears in the 1898-99 directory of Concord City and Merrimack County, New Hampshire: "Terrier Louis, farmer Turnpike, P.O. Hooksett."

    • Lewis Terrier died intestate; "Matilda J. Morgan is the only surviving child of said deceased, said deceased leaving no widow." His probate file (#18364) cites Matilda as Administrator, and she posted a $200 bond 27 August 1901 which was also signed by Asenath A. White, William A. White, Bertrand Morgan, and Frank A. White. The real estate (30 acres in Bow on the Ferry Road to Suncook) was appraised by George W. Short, Wesley B. Wheeler, and Landais Morgan and valued at $300.
