  • Notes
    • Jean Pepin had a taste for adventure, and reached the Mississippi River, establishing two French posts there, the forts Beauhamois and Bonsecours, situated on the widening of the river that formed a lake (in Minnesota). He was to stay many years in that region, and the lake was eventually named "Pepin" for him. Jean Pepin was one of the first inhabitants of Nicolet, establishing there in 1669. Jean stayed in Boucherville and eventually passed land to his son Pierre, who also became Sr. of L'Ile de oras. Jean was the father of 11 children, 7 of whom were boys.
