  • Notes
    • "A Genealogical History of the Clark and Worth Families": Captain John Chandler, born March 14, 1655, was a blacksmith in Andover and noted for his deeds of prowess. When he had vanquished every opponent in his community, he invited a trial of strength with the Rev. John Wise who had been a famed wrestler in his youth. Mr. Wise consented and after a brief struggle pitched his antagonist over the wall into the highway. The vanquished blacksmith looked over the wall and good-naturedly invited him to throw his horse over also. John married Hannah Abbot, December 20, 1676. He died in 1721, his widow in 1741 aet 90.

John Chandler and his wife Hannah Abbott are first cousins, the grandchildren of William Chandler and Annis Bayford.
